Luxor
Description of the excursion (full-day trip)
Luxor is a city in Upper Egypt. It is estimated to have a population of 1.5 million, with an area of about 417 km².
It was the ancient city of Thebes, the capital of Egypt during the New Kingdom and the magnificent city of the god Amun, later the god Amun-Ra.
The ancient Egyptians called the east bank “City of the Living,” as it housed religious temples, royal palaces, and courts, while the west bank was called “City of the Dead,” because it contained cemeteries and mortuary temples.
The city is often referred to as “the world’s greatest open-air museum,” as the ruins of the temple complexes at Karnak and Luxor are in the modern city.
The duration of the excursion is from 04:30 to 21:30. The stated departure and return time is approximate and depends on the location of the hotel. The drive takes 4 hours, we make a break halfway, and the vehicle is air-conditioned.
We will visit the following attractions:
Guests staying in hotels outside of Hurghada, due to longer transfers, pay €5 more than the specified prices for an individual trip, but only if the number of passengers is 4+. If there are fewer passengers, the transportation cost is €25.
Recommendations
We recommend clothing made of natural materials (cotton, linen). It is cooler in the morning and evening hours, so a jacket or sweatshirt is desirable (from October to March). Closed shoes are more practical. Take a scarf or hat and sunglasses.
Don’t forget water wherever you go!
The day before departure, order a breakfast box (breakfast) for the road and a late dinner at the hotel reception, which will be waiting for you after returning from the excursion.
Reservations
Excursions can be booked upon arrival in Hurghada.
